Overview of CCVSB Certification
The Canadian Consumer Verification & Safety Bureau (CCVSB) offers a private, independent business verification and compliance certification program designed to enhance consumer confidence, promote responsible business conduct, and support informed decision-making across Canada.
Certification is granted to organizations that successfully complete CCVSB’s assessment process and demonstrate satisfactory compliance with established verification and safety criteria at the time of review.
CCVSB is a non-governmental, independent organization. Certification does not constitute licensing, regulatory approval, or government endorsement.
Purpose of Certification
The CCVSB Certification Program exists to:

Eligibility for CCVSB Certificate of Verification
Certification may be requested by:

Corporations, partnerships, or sole proprietors operating in Canada

Businesses in good standing at the time of application

Organizations willing to provide complete and accurate documentation for verification
Certain high-risk or regulated industries may be subject to enhanced assessment requirements or limited eligibility.
Certification Request Process
Step 1: Submission of Application
Organizations seeking CCVSB certification must submit a formal certification request by email to info@ccvsb.ca, together with all required documentation.
At this time, the CCVSB online portal is designated for verification service submissions only. Certification requests are accepted and processed through direct submission to CCVSB.

Step 2: Verification & Assessment
CCVSB conducts a private assessment based on submitted information, public records, and applicable verification checks.

Step 3: Determination
Upon completion of the assessment, CCVSB will issue one of the following determinations:

Certified with Conditions

Not Certified
Step 4: Issuance of CCVSB Certificate of Verification
Successful applicants receive a CCVSB Certificate of Verification, including:

Issue date

Certification Validity & Renewal

Standard certification validity: 12 months

Certification expires automatically on the stated expiration date

Renewal requires reassessment and updated documentation

CCVSB reserves the right to shorten certification periods based on risk factors
Expired certifications may not be displayed or represented as active.

No active pattern of unresolved consumer deception identified during review
Submission of false, misleading, or incomplete information may result in denial or revocation.
Certification Terms & Conditions
Nature of Certification
CCVSB certification:

Reflects information available at the time of assessment

Does not guarantee future performance, conduct, or outcomes

Does not replace consumer due diligence
Certification is not a warranty, insurance policy, or guarantee of service quality.

Certified businesses may:

Display the CCVSB certificate and trust seal during the active certification period

Reference their certification status accurately and without alteration
Certified businesses may not:

Imply government approval or regulatory authority

Modify certificate wording, design, or validity dates

Use certification after expiration or revocation
Misuse may result in immediate revocation.
Revocation, Suspension & Status Changes
Grounds for Revocation or Suspension
CCVSB reserves the right to suspend or revoke certification at any time if:

Material misrepresentation or false information is identified
-
Certification requirements are no longer met
-
Insurance, registration, or compliance lapses
-
Consumer harm, fraud, or deceptive practices are substantiated

The business misuses CCVSB certification or branding
-
Legal or regulatory action materially impacts business integrity
Revocation Process
Where appropriate:

CCVSB may notify the business of identified concerns
-
The business may be given a limited opportunity to respond
-
CCVSB will determine whether certification remains valid
In cases involving serious risk to consumers, immediate revocation without prior notice may occur.

Effect of Revocation
Upon revocation or suspension:

Certification becomes void immediately

All CCVSB certificates, seals, and references must be removed

Public verification status will reflect Revoked or Suspended

No refund is issued for revoked certifications
